Wellness therapies are not a new fad, they’ve been used by different cultures across the centuries to heal the mind and body. It’s popular in western culture too, increasingly so, where many people practice yoga and massage, for example. Even the corporate world incorporate wellbeing programmes, benefiting their staff and ultimately their business.

These therapies can benefit you in so many ways. For some, they’re a great way to relax and get away from the pressures of modern living without the need for medication or substance use. Massage has very few ill-effects when compared to alcohol or illegal drugs for instance!

Wellness therapies also have well-renowned healing properties, with many seen as holistic, benefiting the mind, body and soul. For example, yoga encourages good body posture and is sometimes used to cure injury. The meditation part of this practice nurtures and calms the mind.

You see many people turning to wellness therapies to help them give up dependencies and bad habits too. Again, they’re seen by some as an alternative to medication when trying to give up smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs and so on. A consistent and regular exercise routine ends up replacing bad habits, with the benefits obvious.

It’s also worth noting that many large corporate companies have well-established wellness programmes for their staff. The job search website, Monster, highlighted these following American companies, and their perks, in a feature article:

They offer education and resources for quitting smoking, weight management, and fitness training. They also fund gym memberships or fitness-related equipment and activity purchases, while also providing free Zumba classes, onsite walking and running tracks, along with sports courts.

Their employee assistance program offers free personal and family counseling, stress management. The cafés come stocked with healthy dining options, including a “Real Easy Wellness” labeling system to help employees easily identify healthy food options.

Their campus offers an all-encompassing wellness program featuring onsite healthcare services, including physician, chiropractic, physical therapy and massage services. They provide access to fitness centers, classes, and community bikes.

The campus cafés and micro kitchens are stocked with nutritious, color-coded meals and snacks, and provide smaller plates to help with portion control. The search engine powerhouse also offers its employees granted flexible hours and volunteer time, helping them achieve work-life balance.

The business management consultant company offers employee assistance programs, which provide confidential support for issues like stress, substance abuse, depression and anxiety. Additionally, employees are offered services where they can ask a physician any health-related question 24/7.

Their innovative wellness program allows employees to set health goals and offers rewards for completing healthy activities. They make it pretty easy to do too, as the company offers special rates and discounts for gyms and fitness centers as well as an online fitness program, so employees can workout anytime.
