On the 14th March, Claire Taylor (Co-Founder, Carbon Retreat) featured on Sadie Nine’s Radio Essex show. Sadie’s discussion centered around addiction to prescription drugs and Claire phoned up to speak about her own experiences of beating addiction, plus Carbon Retreat.

Highlights of the interview include:

“We all have addictive tendencies at times in our lives. I was addicted to prescription drugs … If you can control your mind, you can stop taking them continuously or not at all, I’ve learned to do that. I literally stopped taking them. We get scared and keep using them because of the fear of the side effects and it becomes a battle with ourselves.”

"I met Chris Hill who offers a method of relieving the want and craving and basically cure an addiction. We started working together at Carbon Retreat over a year ago. We at Carbon don’t believe you need to go to rehab, you can be taught a program which encourages to work with your mind to relieve all this (any) addiction.”

"It all comes from the mind, everything we do is a thought, it starts with a thought."

"I can honestly say I’m now addiction-free, I don’t have any problems anymore. It’s made such a difference to my life, I just generally feel free for the first time in my life, it’s taken 53 years but I got there in the end.”
